Voip

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have read a few older post that VG does not work with VoIP services is this true? ex. Instead of 4 lines coming into my Dialogic card from PSTN, the 4 lines of dialtone would be supplied from a service like Vonage...

Some of the post were 6 months old or so, I am just checking to see if you have tested VG on VoIP and if so what equipm, ent you tested with and how sucessful it was.

If it dosent work why? Is it a DTMF issue? or smething different?

Thank You

David

Hello,

I have tested their software with our internal VOIP and an external solution such as Vonage and both work just fine. Both produce an analog signal or line that comes from the VOIP gateway or device and then plugs into the voiceboard just like you would normally plug a standard phone line.

The VOIP device creates the dialtone and hanhup tones needed to use it properly. The only trouble that could occur is it sometimes may not recognize the hangup tone without doing some tweaking, but that is the case with regular phone lines and carriers as well.

So all in all there is no difference between a regular phone line and VOIP as far as VoiceGuide is concerned. The only obvious difference would be that you are going to need atleast 64k of data or more per line to have decet sound quality depending on the protocol used and compression.

Regards,

Chad

Thank you for the quick reply... What you stated is what I want to hear.... this is good news...

My other question would be do I need a special Dialogic board for voip? or can I use a D/160SC-LS board or any other standard boards?

Thanks Again

David

Correct.

D/160SC-LS and any other standard card is fine.

I would have the same service VoiceIP with VG.

I want to make a IVR which permits users to make calls using VoiceIP but i want to control the time of each call,it depends of each employee.... and maybe I want to limit the time for each user... wich module can i use for that? how can I control time limit for each call?

Thanks,

Rudy

To control length of call use a "Timeout" path in the module which does the "Dial and Conference" - you would really need ISDN lines as it is pretty hard to tell on analog lines when the second leg of the call is answered...
