Setting Up Voicemail

Hi ,

 

I have done the following to set up the voicemail system and it doesnt appear to be working.

1. Opened voicemail manager and setup voicemail box 0001. I simply entered a pin number and a name (I cant record files as the server is at a remote location and assumed you would be able to do that by dialling in) I also entered the details of the smtp server so it emails all messages.

 

2. Change our main inbound dialling script so that when you push 6 the path is [Voicemail box menu]

 

3. when dialling into the system and pushing 6 i am prompted to enter a mailbox number, i enter 0001 it then says please record your message and then hangs up.

 

What Am I doing wrong, I want to dial into the voicemail system to record a greeting for the mailbox 0001 and then want to use that same voicemail box throughout our other scripts

I think you have edited the Voicemail system's vmLm.vgs file...

 

In trace we see:

which means that in module VmLmRecInit the setting 'Wait till VBScript completes' was changed to 'Wait till VBScript and Sound File completes', and as that module does not start any playing of sound files then VoiceGuide hangs up because of this error.

 

We should maybe add more debugging to mark cause of hangup more specific, but what you should maybe do now is to re-install VG on that machine, (unless you know what other changes were made to the voicemail scripts and can reverse them all).

The VM scripts have definitely not been edited at all Im not even sure what script that module you refer to is in... Im dubious about re-installing the whole of voice guide (we have finally ironed out all the bugs with answering machines). Do I have to unregister files from the registry etc. Should I just re-install just the voice mail part of it... is it just copying over the system / vg folder. If I do a full re-install, do I need to save my current config file or any other files?

 

Also since installing voiceguide for dialogic all of the sound files sound rrreeeaallly slow. I know this is related to the sample rate of the files is there a quicker way to fix all the files than re-recording / editing the individual files. Will this be fixed with a re-install.

Best thing to do is probably to install VoiceGuide on another machine (select the "TAPI" option when doing this) and then copy over the entire \system\ subdirectory tree.

 

VG for Dialogic uses 8kHz sound files. There are instructions mentioning this in the Readme.txt file in VG for Dialogic patch download.
