Caller Id Do Not Display With Pbx

Recommended Posts

Hello, Please I need help.

I have a D/41EPCI, and a licensed VG v6.

When I connect a direct line to the card, and I called the line from my mobile, the VG shows the caller ID correctly.

But when I connect the dialogic card with one of the extension ports of a PBX (of AVAYA PBX which has an E1 line into it), and I called the dailogic card extension number from another extension phone, the caller ID did not display on the RV variable nor from the call log viewer.

Secondly, while the dialogic card is still connected with the PBX, I also called the dailogic card extension number from my mobile, yet, the caller ID did not display from VG variable name nor from the call log viewer. though the call rings out in both cases.

Please what can I try to see caller ID in the RV variable name particularly for the second scenario.

Looks like the PBX is not sending the CallerID like the Telcos do (as FSK encoded signal between 1st and 2nd ring). Most PBXs don't send Caller ID like that, so not surprising that yours doesn't either.

You should configure the PBX to pass the CallerID as 'Inband Signalling' (DTMF tones sent by PBX right after call is answered by VoiceGuide).

To configure VoiceGuide to receive 'Inband Signalling' please see: http://www.voiceguide.com/vghelp/source/html/inbandsignaling.htm

I will implement this inband signaling as describe in that document, yet I need to draw your attention to something, when I remove the line from the dialogic card and put on a regular digital phone box, then I called that line from another extension, the caller ID shows up on the phone box. Does is still means that the PBX may not be sending callerID (since when calls are made between ext the callerID shows on the phones)

Maybe the CallerID is sent by PBX in another way, or the PBX is already configured to send the CallerID as inband signalling, which the digital phone box is already configured to detect?

You would need to look at the PBX and the digital phone box configuration to determine how the CallerID is passed between them.

Please< i have done exactly you adviced, and I saw in the logs (attached) that 1 pattern is loaded but I can't find the values, maybe the sender ID is there or not. Please help check the log to see where the pattern and RV are;

This is what I did for the AVAYA Inband Signaling, I set it in the vg.ini file under [PBX] section and I created a Get Number Module to first receive the call:

;For 10 Digit Inband calling - Forward call

Pattern=[*][*][*]???????????????[*][1-4]

RV=Inband_TOC,4,1,Inband_Calling,5,10,Inband_Called,15,4,Inband_Info,20,1

Traces show that no inband DTMF tones are sent after call answer.

Recommend speaking to AVAYA PBX administrator to have inband DTMF signaling enabled on these lines, and to confirm the inband signaling format.
