Call transfer questions

Recommended Posts

Hi I am using voiceguide and everything works fine, except transfering calls from

an external line to another external line.

I am using windows XP with a DIalogic D4PCI card 2 different analog lines

it will hang up the caller and then dial the other external line who will get the hear the voiceguide script.

My question is (as I have seen on one of the other users) that is it possible to make a transfer from one

external to another with voiceguide or do I need a special PBX to do these transfers!

Thank you

Can you currently perform such transfers manually? ie: if you had a telephone handset attached to the same extension that is now plugged into the Dialogic card and you answered an incoming external call on that handset then would you be able to perform a transfer of that call to another number? If yes then can you describe in detail in what order you would perform various actions (key presses etc) to make this happen.

What phone company is providing you the lines which you are using?

Some phone companies will allow you to make immediate (blind) transfers of incoming calls to another number, and some companies will require that the destination person answers the phone before you can make such a transfer (in which case you will need to use an "Announced Transfer").

Many PBXs will not allow a transfer of an external call to another external number - but most will allow a transfer of an internal call (made from one of the PBXs extensions) to an external number. You will need to speak to your local PBX supplier to determine which PBX would be appropriate for your needs if you decide to buy a PBX...

If you are finding that VoiceGuide hangs up the original caller when doing the transfer then that's most likely because the hookflash length is set too high - do you know what length hookflash your phone company (or PBX) expects?

If hookflash length is too short on the other hand then the phone company / PBX will not detect it and the original caller will hear the digits of the destination phone number being dialed...

Well I tried to make voiceguide use the second line only for calling out but it seems only to use 1 line of the dialogic card

so how can I force voiceguide to use a specific line for dialing out , I know it says so but it doesn;t do it. can I force the card to do so, or do I need a PBX to do all this. can a dialogic transfer calls without one?

Is this still the same problem?

The first post dealt with call transfers, whereas last post asks about outbound dialing...

You can specify which lines are enabled to perform outbound dialing by selecting or deselecting the "Allow VoiceGuide to dial out on this line" check box - which is visible when you select Line Device Config from the View menu

BTW: Dialogic drivers are not certified by Intel for use under WinXP - you should be using Win2000. We have had one case where apparently announced call conferences would not work under WinXP and the problems were resolved when customer switched to using Win2000.
