Can't Get Voiceguide To Use Selected Speech Voice

I have AT&T's TTS engine installed, and it's selected in the speech menu under control panel, but VoiceGuide still uses the default subpar female tts. Is there any reason why VG wouldn't recognize my selection? The engine works fine and i'm able to test and preview it from within the control panel

It should be using the default selection made in the Control Panels applet... not too sure why it wouldn't... have you tried restarting your computer?

You mean Microsoft's female voice (Microsoft Mary)?
