Recorded Message

Recommended Posts

Hi Support, :)

Is there an option in VG for dialogic to manage the volume of someone who is leaving a message?

Problem:

When a caller is leaving a message and he stops for 1 or 2 seconds the volume of the recorded voice is soft (not loud).

When you listen to the recorded message you have a little problem to understand the message.

Question:

Is there an option to manage this problem?

Thank you.

We have tried this in our labs and have found no reduction in recording volume on between successful recorded segments recorded using the pause-resume approach.

In our tests we did the pause-resume cycle in one record module around 20 times and there was no difference in volume during the entire resulting sound file.

The Dialogic card uses internal AGC (Automatic Gain Control) to decide at what amplification the recording is made. There are no gain parameters which can be set by the user.

Volume can be adjusted only at playback.

The sample of sound file you provide has the second half recorded at slightly lower volume then the first. This could be as the caller just did not speak as loud.

You can easily make your own tests to confirm how the system behaves by recording the sound files yourself and doing a number pause-resumes during the recording and seeing what the resulting file will sound like.

NB.

Test system used: VG v6.0.3317 with ktTel v2.4.0 (March 1, 2007, 20:57:53)
