Onanswer Detect Ivr

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out how to handle outbound calls that go to an IVR / phone tree. I know this would be tricky, but most of the time you can dial 0 to get to a person or to leave a message. Would there be a way to detect an IVR when doing outbound calling? They don't end with a beep, so they would not be seen as an IVR, but it would not be a live human.

Maybe it's a lost cause. We want to leave a message or get to a person, or somehow know that it was an IVR system so that we can get a better direct phone number for future callouts.

Thanks for any ideas.

IVRs would be detected as 'answerig machines'.

Please note that if the IVR sound quality is very good then Dialogic card/drivers may think that a live person answered the call.
