Testing Applications

Recommended Posts

Quick question,

Is there a way to develop a voiceguide application, or test a voiceguide developed application, for example using PC keyboard, speaker and microphone without having to have a modem/dialogic board and actually dial into it?

Thanks

I had the same issue - testing the IVR script without wasting $$ in phone calls. Unfortunately VG does not have a call simulator.

However, I found this VOIP site and they offer free landline calls to Australia (where i am).

So now, I just call myself using their software....hope this helps some.

The best way to test the IVR system is to dial into it just like the caller would.

The best solutions for testing are:

1. Purchase a Dialogic PromptMaster Phone. These are sold used on eBay and other places. It has a power supply and provides line and ring voltage so you can test a IVR system board without having telephone lines.

2. Purchase a CO (Central Office) or line simulator. These are usually more expensive than a PromptMaster.

eg: Skutch AS-4A (http://www.skutchelectronics.com/index.html) on E-bay for $25 (US). It lists for $75 but there and there are a few companies that will sell them for less than $50.00 and some guy on eBay seems to have a few for $25.00

3. Use a small PBX. They are a bit more expensive ($200+) but worth it.
