The card provider should be able to advise what that setting is for the card they provided. Most likely only some of the channels will support fax - so you may need to ensure that any outgoing fax calls are only made on those channels (this is easily set when loading calls in VoiceGuide) Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/14/2013 10:52 AM If your card provider advises that the card that was supplied does not support fax when running ISDN, then a quick workaround may be to add a D/41JCT card to the system (linking both cards with CT-Bus cable) and specify that 4 of the dti channels on the D/480JCT use the 4 dxxx resources on the D/41JCT. (each of the dxxx resources on the D/41JCT supports fax and voice) Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/14/2013 11:08 AM Since this is a 'Dual Span' card then it may be possible to set the dxxx devices on the second span to have fax enabled. In Dialogic Configuration Manager, on tab Misc, set FirmwareFile2 to be: spfax.fwl This will prevent you from using the second span for an ISDN trunk, but will give you access to some fax resources (most lilkely either 4 or 8) without adding any more cards. To find out which resource have the fax enabled after the change it is best to look at the "ft_fax=" report in ktTel trace after Dialogic service (and VoiceGuide service) restart after the firmware change is made. vkei Report post Posted 05/14/2013 11:17 AM Thanks it is PCI i found a label showing the model is D/480JCT1T1W my DCM detected it as D/480JCT-2T1 #0 in slot 5/2 the card has only 1 T1 port , i think the 2T1 is just name of a series ? not really sure the only setting i make at the DCM is Interface > ISDNProtocol set to NI2 and ISDNProtocol2 set to None i find this information "Dialogic JCT series Media Boards configured to use the spfax.fwl firmware will have from 2 to 8 fax resource channels enabled." should i set the FirmwareFile or FirmwareFile2 to spfax.fwl in DCM ? it is now set to "default" Share this post Link to post

SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/15/2013 01:37 AM We have set up a D600JCT-1E1 (DCM does report it as D/600JCT-2E1) that we have in our testing lab to use ISDN on its E1 trunk, and set FirmwareFile2 to spfax.fwl (FirmwareFile was left as 'default'). ktTel trace showed that, on that card, 16 of the dxxx resources on the second span now were fax enabled (dxxxB9C1 to dxxxB12C4) You can edit the Config.xml to set which dxxx resources are to be used by VoiceGuide when opening the channel. In ktTel trace, when fax is enabled on a dxxx resource on a JCT card, you will see these tags on the line that reports dxxx features present (ft_e2p_brd_cfg report line) FT_FAX_EXT_TBL ft_fax=0x30 Share this post Link to post

SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/15/2013 09:20 AM Looks like there was a bug in sending faxes from "Send Message" module - which we are now fixing. As a workaround for now please see attached scripts. 13.vgs now specifies that a script is started upon call answer (JustSendFax.vgs), and sets a $RV that specifies the filename to fax. JustSendFax.vgs when ran sends the fax that is specified in the $RV Please let us know if you have any questions. Please also see: http://www.voiceguide.com/vghelp/source/html/diallistinto.htm section: "Out Dial Input file - VoiceGuide v7". Using that XML file gives you better control over outgoing call. including: sOnAnswerFax Fax to send. This can be a .PDF or a .TIFF file. Note that when this field is specified VoiceGuide will start playing the Fax Calling Tone immediately after the number is dialed.
