Guest Kevin Hope Report post Posted 01/29/2004 08:21 PM I am currently having problems transferring calls using a voice modem and the blind dial feature. When I dial the number the system answer and I chose option 1 which is suppose to transfer the call to an external number. It goes through the process and does that and you can see the call come in and it rings one time and then hangup right away. Can anyone help with this. SupportTeam Report post Posted 01/30/2004 01:01 AM It goes through the process and does that and you can see the call come in and it rings one time and then hangup right away. If the destination extension is ringing this means that the hookflash the tones played after it are correctly recognized by the PBX. (You are quite lucky to have come up with a modem whose hookflash length matches that of the PBX). It sounds like the destination extension stops ringing at about the same as VG hangs up after playing the transfer extension's number. How do you usually transfer calls manully on those lines? Do you need to wait until the destination extension picks up the phone before you can hang up? (In which case you should use the "Announced Transfer"). What keys/hookflash sequences do you use when transferring the call manually? If it's different then just a normal "hookflash+extension" then you will need to edit the PBX What modem and PBX are you using? PS. It looks from the trace like after the transfer has failed the PBX sends the call back to the extension from which transfer was made (ie. VGs extension)... Share this post Link to post
Guest Kevin Hope Report post Posted 01/30/2004 02:08 AM The line that I am using is a PSTN external line direct from the PSTN switch. I am not using a PBX any at all. The transfer number is also an external line.I am using a win modem from Lucent Agere I-306. I have tried the other option sugested but got the same response. I have conference call on the line I am using as well. What else can I do. Does the length of the flash hook makes a difference or the wait time for dial tone. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 01/30/2004 02:30 AM How do you usually transfer calls manually on that line? Can you tell us exactly step by step what you do and when you do it. Most phone companies require that the recipient of the transferred call answers the call before the party which transfers the call may hang up - in which case you should use the "Announced Transfer" option. Also, many phone companies do not support call transfers at all but they support call conferencing - in which case you should use the "Announced Conference" option. Have you tried using call transfer methods other then "Blind Transfer"? What were your results? Share this post Link to post
Guest Kevin Hope Report post Posted 02/06/2004 05:41 AM Yes, I have tried all the transfer methods in your system and it does the very same thing. It calls the number being transfer to in this case my cell phone, the call comes in and it rings once then it goes back like you are calling in for the first time and get the welcome message. Do you thing putting commas after the number will help or is it that i need to change the flash hook length on the voice modem Share this post Link to post

I take it that this is the description of what the original caller into the system hears? If the destination phone does ring then it means that hookflash was recognized OK by the phone company switch and it then correctly recognized the number dialed and started ringing the destination phone... so it sounds like we are pretty close to getting this working... the question is why did the destination phone stop ringing and the original call was presented to VG again... How do you usually transfer calls manually on that line? Can you tell us exactly step by step what you do when you transfer calls manually on that line, and when you do each action.
