MattyK Report post Posted 07/03/2015 04:51 PM Hi there, Our company uses your Voiceguide system and we need to migrate it to a new device. Some general info about our system. Installed Version: Enterprise Edition, 4-line, Version 7.2, For use with Dialogic cards Our current Voiceguide license is linked to the Dialogic board. Since the license is attached to the card am I able to remove that card and put it in a new device without any issue? We are currently using an XP device to host it and we would like to move away from that. Does a license transfer need to occur? Please let me know if you need any more info. Thanks, Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 07/03/2015 08:48 PM Since the license is attached to the card am I able to remove that card and put it in a new device without any issue? Yes. That license will work in whichever system that card is placed in. To move the license to new system just copy the file userinfo.ini (in VoiceGuide directory) from your current system to new system. To setup the software itself on new system you can use your v7.2 installer if you still have it - or you can just copy the VoiceGuide directory over if you have the right "Microsoft Visual C++" redistributables installed on new system (latest versions of Windows have these by default) That license you have will also work for version of VoiceGuide up to v7.4.x, and you can download v7.4.5. from here: [removed] If upgrading system to use v7.5.x onwards then a license upgrade would need to be purchased - please contact sales@voiceguide.com regarding that. (main new functionality in v7.5 is REST interface for historical status and reporting, and web based dashboards which use this REST API) Share this post Link to post
MattyK Report post Posted 07/06/2015 06:42 PM Thanks for your quick response. It seems like on my end business is worried about a single point of failure. Do you know how we could turn our current setup into something that has a failover? Either 2 devices or a virtualized setup? We would be comfortrable with 2 physical devices, but since the license is attached to the card we can't create a second failover device. In a VM setup we could setup a analog usb device and share it over our network, or do you know a easier way? We currently have a hyper-v cluster we'd like to put it in. Upgrading our license is an option. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 07/06/2015 11:10 PM Eliminating a single point of failure scenario involves implementing redundancy in all system components, which implies as a minimum a duplication of all individual systems and ensuring that any telephony switches routing calls into the IVR will fail over automatically upon failure detection. As implementing failover detection in Telco telephony switches that deliver analog services is not usually done for smaller deployments like this one. The simplest approach for analog systems is to have two systems actively running, taking calls in a "round-robin" fashion - with alternating calls sent to different systems. This way the failure of one system results in service degradation (with not all calls being answered) but the system continues to operate. Also, any services used by the IVR would need to have similar design considerations, with clustering used for any databases etc. It is not possible to use telephony cards on a visualized system. Two separate complete systems must be deployed, each with its own telephony card and its own license. Having said all that, VoiceGuide IVR deployments regularly achieve 99.99% uptime or more, with many systems never requiring any downtime year round - so achieving 99.999% +, so you may want to consider whether in your case it would be necessary to still pursue deploying a "no single point of failure" system. (systems that achieve 'five-nines' 99.999% uptime are usually disconnected from internet and have automatic Windows updating and restarts disabled) Please let us know if you have any questions, Share this post Link to post
