particleman Report post Posted 03/04/2004 03:44 AM I installed VoiceGuide on my Windows XP Professional Computer. When i started the ""VoiceGuide Wizard", i got the error message; "No devices were found" as well as a pop-up window that said; "Phone And Modem control panel can not be opened. You may have a problem starting telephony device." We have a Hayes Acura to test the software, and it is installed properly. Any tips would be appreciated; we have already ruled out 3 other titles that don't do what we need to get done for our business. Sincerely, Keith Share this post Link to post

Guest Guest Report post Posted 03/04/2004 05:18 AM We've tried re-installing the Modem; it's a Hayes Accura Voice / Data / Fax modem that someone had on their list of compatible modems. It appears in the "System > Device Manager > Sound, Video, and Game Controllers > Unimodem Full-Duplex Audio Device" as well as under "Modems" so we are assuming it's actually a voice modem. We can dial out as well, so we know it's at least working. I am also equally as certain that since we don't know the first thing about this technology, and have been researching the net for days trying to find a solution, that our plundering through the darkness is the root of our troubles. Either way, the "Phone and Modem Options" icon on the Control Panel gives the exact same error as above. We also can't get other manufacturers software to recognize the modem either...they require a "TAPI Device" - this is supposed to be a TAPI compliant modem from what we can find, but, as i said, we are trying to find a solution with very little knowledge about this type of technology. particleman Report post Posted 03/04/2004 05:12 PM In case this might be useful for other neophites: Our computer tech had "selective startup" selected in Windows XP, and the telephone services were disabled...since we have DSL, he didn't think we'd ever have a use for modem services...
