Can you please advise what do you mean by "and have been unsuccessful so far". Does it mean that call hasn't reached a certain part of the script? One approach to take would be to use the "Run After Hangup" script to send out the email, and in that script check whether certain Result Variables have been set during the call or not - and if they have not then send out the email.
