Guest Guest_zackrspv Report post Posted 03/05/2004 07:54 PM Currently your update setup program is limited in capacity. You have it to where if the old version is installed, it removes the version; and the user has to run the setup program again. This of course, removes all voice mail boxes (and at least on our machine, the contents of those folders as well). It also removes the registry keys and ect that are used to register VG. It would make life here during upgrades alot simpler if you would provide the following functionality: 1. Scan for older version a. backup voicemail boxes and content b. backup registration key 2. Remove old version a. leave setup engine running so that we don't have to manually restart it. 3. Install new version a. import voice mail boxes and contents b. import registration codes That is just the basic functionality we need. Personally, i'm tired of rebuilding all 130 voice mail boxes every time we have to update VG. As well as searching through thousands of emails to find the registration code. Please do something about this. Thanks! Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 03/05/2004 11:45 PM To backup the voicemailbox database you just need to save the VmBoxList.xml file from VoiceGuide's \data\ subdirectory. Then after installing new version of VG you can copy the saved VmBoxList.xml file into the \data\ subdirectory. Similarly for registration key which is located in the userinfo.ini file. I agree the installer ought to do these things as well when upgrading from older registered version of VG - I'm sure these features will be incorporated into it soon. Share this post Link to post
