iTime Report post Posted 06/08/2017 08:21 PM Hello, We have been installing VG7 with HMP on VM (Esxi) environment for our customers, advertising that the hosing machine does need to have a sound card installed. But is this still true? I noticed you mentioned it is OK without a sound card for the thread below: http://voiceguide.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12342&hl=%2Bsound+%2Bcard&do=findComment&comment=42022 Would you be able to clarify? one of our customers-to-be asked for requirements. Thanks in advance. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/08/2017 09:01 PM VoiceGuide v7 does not require a sound card to be installed. Dialogic HMP also does not require a sound card to be installed. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/08/2017 10:08 PM Some TTS engines may require that sound drivers are installed, so if using TTS engine on this system you may want to check the used TTS engine's requirements. Share this post Link to post
iTime Report post Posted 06/08/2017 10:58 PM We always use Microsoft Text-to-speech. So, what is the best way to check it is available on VM without a sound card? Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/08/2017 11:20 PM Best way is to do a test deployment on same version of Windows in same VM environment. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/16/2017 07:04 AM We always use Microsoft Text-to-speech. Current versions of Microsoft TTS do not require that a sound card/hardware be present. Please see screenshot from a test we just did on Windows 2016 running on VM under ESXi 6.5.0 "Microsoft David Desktop" TTS Voice was used by VoiceGuide and it successfully generated the sound file that was then played out. Screenshot shows that no sound hardware is present on this VM, and that the Audio Service is not running. Please let us know if you would like us to expand on anything, Share this post Link to post
evalenzuela Report post Posted 06/16/2017 04:38 PM The current potential customer is using HYPER-V not VMWare. Can you please run a test with a virtual machine on Microsoft hyper-v? This would ease their concerns. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/16/2017 11:14 PM Dialogic HMP only officially supports VmWare ESXi as a VM platform. There are reports from users that they are able to run Dialogic HMP on Hyper-V, but we do not officially support running VoiceGuide on Hyper-V, as it is not an VM platform officially supported by Dialogic. The test carried out that showed that current version of Microsoft TTS does not require that a sound card/hardware be present in order to by successfully used with VoiceGuide. Running on a different VM platform (or on the physical machine directly) should not result in the TTS engine all of a sudden requiring it, when it works without it. Share this post Link to post
