Dual Processor Support

Recommended Posts

My company is in the panning stages for an IVR system. We have used your trial edition and it is great. We plan to purchase the enterprise edition withing the next 2 months. We plan to incorporate the IVR data into a SQL server database. Our data will be posted to the web as soon as it is gathered.

My question is this. Due to the processes involved with SQL, we are looking at a dual processor system. Does the Katalina software support dual processors?

Our communications server will be configured in the following manner.

Dual Intel Xeon 3.0gHz processors.

3 Gig Ram

250 gig SATA HD

4 Dialogic 4 port modem cards.

Windows 2000 Server

SQL Server 2000

Are there any other potential issues with this setup? We are trying to investigate beforehand to limit errors during and after implementation.

Multiple CPU systems are OK. Windows itself would decide what tasks get to run on which CPU and the task load usually does get shared between CPUs - especially as in your case you will be running multiple apps on your server.

It's worth noting that VoiceGuide itself is not very CPU intensive, more likely it will be SQL Server DB which will use more CPU then VG...

Will you be using Text-To-Speech? TTS is very CPU intensive. When using TTS it's recommended to get as fast a system as possible...

If you're not using TTS then the system specs which you are quoting is more then enough for a 16 line system + SQL server... (it would be probably more then enough for a 60 line system actually....)
