Johnmcc Report post Posted 05/18/2004 02:15 PM Hi All; We're a very small business that, in the evenings needs messages delivered from the office to our home or cell phone. Only one line is needed to take and deliver messages with VG. We are having a difficult time making things work reliably with a voice modem. The biggest problem seems to be that random but frequently, after delivering a message, we tell it to save or delete the message, the modem/software will not hang up, leaving the line open and totally shutting down our ability to get more messages. I know zero about these dialogic cards but I see them being recommended here constantly. What model would be the lowest price that would function in a Windows XP Home PC? This is a 2.5ghz Celeron with 512 meg/Ram. When I do a search of dialogic, the results comes back with mountains of tech data that goes way over my head in trying to figure out what we need. We do not need daytime call transfers and the fancier stuff larger companies need. We simply need a reliable method to take and deliver messages. Thanks to all in advance for your help and suggestions. John Mcc Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/18/2004 11:00 PM D/4PCI is the entry level card. Please see: http://www.voiceguide.com/suppRecomHardware.htm The problems you describe happen sometimes with voice modems. These problems do not happen with Dialogic cards. Share this post Link to post
Johnmcc Report post Posted 05/19/2004 03:01 PM Hi; Thank you for your fast response. The D4pci is being strongly considered. One question though: In our business we have 2 phone lines running to an A-B swith box then to the computer . One line we use at night with with VG. This line was hardwired to by pass the phone switching equipment. The other phone line (also hardwired pass the switcher) is used during the day to receive faxes into the computer. We use Winfax Pro v10. During the day we have to switch the phone line to receive faxes and we have to turn off VG. At night we switch to the other phone line, turn off Winfax Pro and then run VG. If I understand this D4pci (which I don't), does this board listen to 1-4 phone lines at the same time, and can I just have VG listen to one line, and Winfax Pro listen to the other line and not have to go through switching and opening/closing different software twice a day? Thank you in advance for your timely response and help. John Mcc Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 05/20/2004 03:45 AM You can select VoiceGuide to just use a particular line - you can do all this from the VG Configuration Wizard. WinFax will not be able to receive faxes with a Dialogic card - WinFax does not use Dialogic - only modems. Share this post Link to post
