3-way Call

Recommended Posts

I am looking for an IVR system that can allow for a three-way conversation with three people, dialling in on three separate analog lines. Is that, in any way, possible with Voiceguide?

At this stage VoiceGuide does not support conferencing, sorry.

The 3 way calls that VoiceGuide supports are the ones where VoiceGuide dials out to a 3rd party and has them conferenced in the conversation.

In such calls the 3 participants of the conference call are:

1. the original caller

2. VoiceGuide

3. the '3rd party'

Looking at Voiceguide, can I get the second participant you mentioned above, '2. Voiceguide', to play a .wav file while the other two parties converse? That does not seem possible using the 'Transfer Call' module.

Also, would the addition of a Dialogic card, or CT Media, allow for the the three-party conferencing? Or, two parties and a .wav conferencing?

It is possible. After a conference is accepted by the 3rd party VoiceGuide will take the "Success" path from the Transfer module (if defined).

You can point the Success path to a "Play" module to play a file - and this file will be heard by both original caller and 3rd party.

Many people point the Success path to a "Record" module, and have VoiceGuide record the conversation between the original caller and 3rd party...

CT-Media

The CT-Media can support conferencing of two callers, but one of them must be an outbound leg, and you would not be able to play a sound file to both of them as well.

We are adding new features to VoiceGuide all the time and conferencing of incoming callers is considered for inclusion.

If your project is big enough and you would commit to purchasing a number of licenses then we can have this feature added as a priority. Any such requests/proposals should be directed to sales@katalinatech.com

Thank you very much.

The 'Success' path as you described it serves my inital needs exactly. I shall try it; on reading the help file, both '3 Way Blind Call' and '3 Way Announced Call' give the impression that the 'Success' or 'Fail' path is only taken after the completion of the 3 way call. They both mention '...wait until the call is finished.'

Does that then suggest my best choice would be Voiceguide for TAPI, with a Dialogic card capable of handling my eight analog lines?

Also, as I am exceeding Katalina's suggested 4-line limit before switching to CT Media, are there any pitfalls that you could alert me to?

The solution you mentioned, ie. one incoming call, one outgoing call, and a .wav file will satisfy this project; thank you for the advice as to how to request improvements. This is a small project, it shall be fully served with a 8-line professional licence. One more question, will I need to purchase the VG Dialer option separately, or is it included with the Professional version?

This works different in the v4.9 of VoiceGuide - please see the Help file which ships with v4.9

The TAPI version of VoiceGuide can control up to 60 lines per PC. The CT-Media version can control up to 240 lines per PC.

VG Dialer is a separate purchase.
