Guest Victor Rychlicki Report post Posted 09/13/2004 10:54 PM I'm attempting to move my VG system from one system to another. I recently purchased a server and now want the server to host the VG application. This server is an older Compaq ProLiant server, dual Pentium II processors at 333MHz, 650MB RAM. I have a Creative ModemBlaster Serial (known good) on COM1 and the modem drivers installed with no problem. I install and configure VG thru the Config Wizard with no issues. But the second I double-click the VG application the system locks up hard. I have to physically power the box off and on again. The server itself exibits no issues other than this problem. The main differance between the old machine and the new server (as far as modems and sound goes) is that the old machine I was using had a built-in sound card and the server has no sound hardware at all. Could this be the problem? Thanks in advance, Victor Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/14/2004 12:36 AM Hard to say what this could be - but if you are using Win2000 or XP then the only cause of system lockup would be due to a problem on a hardware driver level (Modem & Wave drivers included). Win2000/XP does not get locked up due to problems with applications software (unlike Win95/98 could). Are you using Win2000 or XP? If yes then I'd probably recommend checking if there are any updated drivers available for your modem... Do any VoiceGuide logs get created in VG's \log\ subdirectory? Share this post Link to post
Guest Victor Report post Posted 09/15/2004 09:50 PM Thanks for the reply. I am running Win2000-Server on a dual PII 333MHz server w/ 650MB RAM. There is no log left behind in the log directory. Via testing I have been able to see that this hard lockup only happens when the modem drivers are accessed. If I start the server up with the moden turned off (the drivers do not load), the VG application runs but complains about the modem not supporting voice. If I reboot and allow the drivers to load normally then the VG application immediatly locks the machine up upon running it. This server is an older Compaq ProLiant. Is it possible that the modem drivers are too new? Is there any know issues running VG on Win2000 Server Edition? Thanks in advance! Victor Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/16/2004 12:35 AM I'd suggest trying another modem (or a Dialogic card) Share this post Link to post
