How Many Lines?

Recommended Posts

We are about to set up an ISDN VoiceGuide IVR in the next couple of months, and I am uncertain how may lines we will need. I have a few more questions:

1. Using an "ISDN 10" (E1) system, how many actual phone lines are available at any one time, and will a single Dialogic card be able to handle this? i.e., how many conversations can be recorded simultaneously?

2. The card you have previously recommended to me is the DMV600B. If I'm not mistaken the cost of this card is about $10,000 Aus. -- quite a bit more than we intend to pay. Is there a card available for under $3000 that will work well?

3. Once a VG system is up and running, does it typically require close monitoring? We hope to leave the system unattended, unless required.

(I'm just curious, but does anybody know/guess how many lines Channel 10 - Australian Idol program would use to handle its votes?)

4. Are their any freelance telephony technology people who consult to help a small business purchase the right equipment?

Thanks,

Geoff

An E1 line is capable of carrying up to 30 simultaneous calls at the same time.

The "ISDN 10" service only enables the first 10 channels out of the 30 possible

No. You need an E1 capable card - the entry level card for that is the D/300JCT - and they are definitely not anywhere near Aust$3000 brand new.

No. It just runs...

I understand that it is in the 500-1000 lines range...
