Guest Guest_bleach Report post Posted 03/26/2005 05:17 AM howdy. with our deployment of voiceguide we have wav files that we update regularly. i've noticed that if we upload and overwrite a wav file with a newer one sometimes voiceguide does not play the new wav, but the older one. we can work around it by just renaming the file we want to update and then upload the new wav. is this because once a wav file is played back on the line it goes into memory for future instances and doesn't need to reference the physical wav file anymore? it's no problem for us to rename older wav files or schedule shutdowns for updates, but just wanted to check it out. thanks Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 03/26/2005 06:02 AM Have you confirmed when this occurs that the file copied properly? VoiceGuide will load and play whatever file is on the hard disk at the time the play is to begin. The sound files are not "loaded into memory for use in future plays". Share this post Link to post
Guest Guest Report post Posted 03/30/2005 07:58 AM yes it happens even when the upload properly finishes via ftp. maybe i'll try and repeat the problem somewhere on the system and check the log file for any information. dunno what else to do Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 03/30/2005 09:33 AM I'd be checking the file in the directory locally... I'd say the FTP program did not copy the file properly. As mentioned before: VoiceGuide will load and play whatever file is on the hard disk at the time the play is to begin. The sound files are not 'loaded into memory for use in future plays'. Guest oded Report post Posted 04/05/2005 03:50 PM a stranger thing happened to me: If you put a wav file without the full path it sounds a bit differenetly than when adding the full path to the same wav file. try it! what happened to you happend to me too also. dunno why, I changed the file name too, to avoid it. SupportTeam Report post Posted 04/05/2005 09:26 PM If you put a wav file without the full path it sounds a bit differenetly than when adding the full path to the same wav file. Such things do not affect the playback quality. What is played depends on the contents of the sound file, and not the filename or how it is specified. I can see from your other post (http://voiceguide.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2664) that you are using a Voice modem. Some voice modems sometimes have random distortions when playing a sound file.
