Picking Up A Call Manually On A Modem

Hi there

 

We're evaluating VG to see if we can set up a system (with our 1 phone line and voice modem that has the phone line coming in and a phone plugged into the external socket) that would:

 

1) Answer the phone

2) Ask for the extension they're trying to reach and

3) If it is one particular extension (say 111) to play a wav alerting us and then just let us pick up the phone and continue the call while VG does nothing (or at least stays out of the way).

 

I've looked through the options, but they all seem to be about transferring the call and we just want to keep them on the same line.

 

What would happen if we got VG to just wait somehow until we clicked on "Hang Up" and just picked up the phone?

 

Is there a better way of doing this?

Sounds like all you want VG to do is play a sound file over PC speaker then just wait or play 'on-hold' music to the caller.

That's part of it, yes.

 

The other part is that we need to be able to just pick up the phone and talk to the person on the line when this happens as we don't have a second line and therefore don't have the luxuary of having VG transfer to a different extension or call another number.

 

So could we have it...

 

Take a call and have it that when they enter extension XXX that it would play the sound, wait AND let us pick up the phone on the same line to continue the conversation before hanging up (both the phone + in VG)?
