Intel has the D4/PCI listed as discontinued product, is this the case and if so what is the replacement product ?

Where have you seen Intel listing it as a discontinued product?

 

It's not listed on the "Products in Retirement" list from Intel, and indeed it's listed as the "recommend product to be moving to". See:
