Thank you very much for replying to me. I have a program that diales out a list of names and depending on different criteria, it plays various sound files. Depending on whether VG detects an answering machine or is answered by a live person, different scripts are played. If a live person answers the call, the person is asked to respond to various questions like "Press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel" etc. The program then updates a file with the response from the person and this file is then imported back into the program from which the original export was done. This all works very well.

My problems are as follows:-

1) VG does not seem to detect a busy line. Whenever it calls a line that is busy, it merely plays the script for the answering machine and reports it as being answered by an answering machine. This is a very big problem for us, as the person quite obviously does not get the message.

2) Sometimes the sound files played are garbled and very unclear if they are really left on an answering machine. The person who was called often reports that some or all of the message was garbled.

3) We have a very big problem when calling certain cellphone providers where the call goes through to voicemail. Sometimes VG starts playing the scripts before the greeting is finished and therefore the person only hears the last part of the message. Sometimes the message is garbled, and sometimes there is no message at all, even though the cellphone missed call log shows the incoming call.

4) A problem also exists with some Bellsouth (our local telephone provider) subscribers who have a Bellsouth voicemail service. The log shows the incoming call, but there is no message on the voicemail.

These are the main problems that we are experiencing. On the other hand, I want to futher develop the program so that if a customer requests a fax, he enters the fax number and VG automatically faxes out a predefined letter to him.

I would really appreciate if you could help me here and look forward to your reply and estimate.

Thank you

David Flaks

1) VG does not seem to detect a busy line.

If using analog lines to Dial out then the Busy tone must be correct defined - if it is not then the Dialogic card will not detect the busy tone and VoiceGuide ill not be informed that the line is busy...

If your telco plays many different busy tones depending on what other networks you call then you should look into changing to Digital T1 ISDN based system...

2) Sometimes the sound files played are garbled and very unclear if they are really left on an answering machine.

There is no difference in playing files to a person or to an answering machine - as far as VoiceGuide/Dialogic is concerned it is just playing a file. We have not seen any instances in getting garbled/distorted files when using Dialogic cards - but plenty of such things happen with voice modems. Are you using a Dialogic card or a voice modem? If Dialogic card then which one?

Regarding voicemail leaving problems can you please provide a trace capturing an unsuccessful message leaving on voicemail and the sound file which VG records when detecting end of voicemail welcoming message (filename is mentioned in the trace).

I have contacted Vg a few times asking for help with this problem. I refer you to topic number #13088 where I sent you the traces to the calls. Please see this post and let me know what I need to do to correct the problem. Thank you

If you have further questions on that topic then please post your further questions/comments/reports/observations/etc in that thread...
