Testing Scripts Through A T1 Line

Recommended Posts

How can I test the scripts if I am using a Dialogic T1 card. What is the least expensive piece of equipment you recommend/use that I need to be able to do this.

What you're basically asking for would a T1 line simulator (?).

Probably the cheapest way of doing this would be to get a PBX which can do a T1 ISDN connection functioning in 'Network' mode... Best to ask your local PBX supplier next...

I would test the scripts on a analog or BRI card first, via a cheap/second-hand/ebay local PBX that supports a local S0 BRI type connection. Use something like an AVM Fritz! ($10-50) card for BRI script development (or if going down the analog route: D4PCI card). Then fine-tune for T1 in production. I have looked for a "cheap" T1 capable PBX and haven't found anything, but there are several BRI PBXs out there for $50-100 (often sold as BRI simulators for doing cisco certification with). AVM do one. Just a thought!!

PS: Cheapo BRI cards wont do line-transfer and some other features which you may need, so check out the details if you must have this feature for script-dev.

After asking around the prevailing opinion over here is that it's best to just get a T1 line and start using it.

Thanks guys. Will probably go with the real thing (T1 Line) since most dev work is nearly complete using Voice Modem. Besides, I still have to test it out on the real thing even if I pretest using a T1 simulator/PBX.
