tym.zon Report post Posted 11/07/2005 05:49 AM Hi, A quick question regarding multiple simultaneous message retrieves. I need to deploy a system which will allow multiple simultaneous connections (up to 100) to the same voice mail box. The users will only have rights to listen to recorded messages; however it is important that they will all be able to listen to the same message, essentially does the system lock the file being played. Does VG provide this functionality? Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 11/07/2005 06:18 AM There is nothing restricting one line from playing a file that is currently being played by another line. Easy for you to test this yourself - just set up the evaluation version of VG (with the same script set to be used by all lines) and then make a call to two lines at the same time - you will see the same file being played at the same time on both lines. It works the same way on 100+ line systems. As far as VG is concerned there is no difference between WAV file used in a module and a 'Voicemail' WAV file - to VG they are all just normal WAV files. (the Voicemail system is just a set of VoiceGuide scripts) Share this post Link to post
LTympanick Report post Posted 01/02/2007 01:18 AM However, doesn't VG attempt to convert WAV files to VOX the first time it reads them and if this is the case, couldn't that potentially cause a conflict? Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 01/02/2007 01:49 AM Multiple simultaneous accesses to play the same file are not a problem. This is regardless of whether the intermediate VOX file already exists or not. The original question asked about message retrieval, so the original recorded VOX file would already exist on system.
