Voice Guide For Dialogic - Calls Hanging

I have logged on to our voice guide server a few times and recently noticed calls hanging there for a long time with no response. Normally they time out and hang up if there is no response.

 

The other day it actually tied up all the lines.

 

It has also repeatedly called people over and over again. I had to delete the outdialque.mdb file to stop it.

 

I left a trace log open to try and capture what is going on and it is pasted below

Further to my previous comments I got the system to ring me, i answer the phone and when it detects an answering machine, it is waiting until the end of the message. When it changes to end of message and is meant to play the message and it says on the voice guide line that it is, but It is just dead silence on the phone.

 

It then hangs on the line for a long time (which means anyone my system calls has their phone lines tied up until i manually go in and hang up the call) - Very bad. If it happens 4 times then all my lines are tied up.

Ive also tried putting Ignore and disable in the telephone number loader screen where you select a script to play when and answering machine is detected and this also fails

I see you're using v6.0.1049 of VoiceGuide - Please update to current release (v6.0.2306). The TTS bug you're seeing has been fixed some time ago so updating to a recent version of VG should resolve this.

When upgrading voiceguide do I just need to Place VgMulti.exe, VgGsd.exe, VgDialer.exe and VgLv.exe in VG's main directory, overwriting previous files.

 

 

Do I also need to follow the next steps

4. Open a DOS Command Window. (Start->Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt)

 

Change to Windows' \System32\ subdirectory using command:

 

cd c:\Windows\System32

 

and run the following commands:

 

regsvr32 -u tapiwrap.ocx

regsvr32 ktTelControl.ocx

regsvr32 MsComm32.ocx

The problem with the TTS when an answering machine answers is still occurring. You hear silence on the end of the line. The solution you suggested has only made things worse because now people cant dial in and the same problem occurs when dialling out.

Trace shows this call was hung up as 'Loop Current Off' was detected:

about 3 seconds after the call was answered.

 

What phone lines are used with this system?

 

It is possible to have VoiceGuide ignore loop current drops, but on many systems loop current drop is used to determine when the call has actually finished. If the loop current drop detection is not important as end of call detection can be achieved through disconnect tone detection then loop current drop detection can be turned off, but it's best to find out why Loop Current is turned off in the first place - it usually does signal end of call anyway.

 

Do you see loop current drop after 3 seconds on all calls?

I have no idea why this has happend. With the previous version of VG it worked fine. I wouldnt even know how to change this Loop Current Drop Setting all i did was copy the new .exe's and change the Ktel???.ocx file in the registry. It is important that we detect the end of a call as otherwise it will tie up the phone lines unneccessarily

 

We use analog phone lines supplied by Telstra in Australia.

 

To summarise the remaining problems.

- Inbound calls it hangs up on them

- Outbound calls - it still has the same problem with not playing anything when an answering machine is detected.

To fix the Loop Current Drop caused disconnect please place attached OCX in Windows' System32 directory and restart VoiceGuide.

 

We are going to create a config file entry to allow end users to control whether they want to have a disconnect on loop current drop or not. This should be available in next release of software.

 

We'll also look into the problem of leaving TTS generated sounds on answering machines.

In v6.0.2322 (just released) should fix the "tts play abort as no call on line" you are seeing.

 

As you are already running VG fro Dialogic, to update to latest version just copy over the VgMulti.exe and the ktTelControl.ocx to your system.

 

Also, that version by default ignores Loop Current Drops (this can be re-enabled by editing the ConfigLine.xml file).

Hi,

 

I have implemented all the changes and we are still having a few problems... I am thinking I should just disable answering machine detection.

- Our system makes an outbound call to a business

- The business answers but its often noisy in the background so it is mostly detecting an answering machine

- Because it is waiting for silence before it plays the message often the business answers hears nothing and then hangs up

 

Because I am using voice guide for dialogic can I still disable answering machine detection in the .ini file. Typing disable or ignore into the load Telephone number module doesnt work

 

If I do this will the system still recognise the different result variables of no answer or engaged, we can infer an answering machine if the call was answered and no buttons are pressed.

 

Your advice on the best way to go would be appreciated

Could you please post a copy of VoiceGuide's Debug Printout which captures the problem, this will allow us to see what happened.

When running the script click on VoiceGuide's View menu and select 'Event Trace Log' option - any log information will then appear in this window. You must open the trace window before making the call. You can enable the automatic saving of the logs to files in \log\ directory as well.

When posting traces please .ZIP them up and post them as attachments.

The trace does not show the loading of the call, or the beginning of dialing - we'll need that included in trace as well.

Trace shows this outgoing call had "C:\BookingAngel\Callback.vgs" specified to be ran when an Answering Magnine was detected, not "Ignore"...

 

Maybe you have some old calls in the database which are being redialed?

 

I assume that you no longer see any "tts play abort as no call on line" type problems?

I think this is fixed now, the Ignore seems to be working, but am having probelms with voicemail now...see my new post
