Guest Jack_VR Report post Posted 12/08/2005 04:36 PM Hi there, we have an urgent problem. our phone bill has calls from 2 phone numbers, for several weeks now and their calls connected to our vg answering system. some of these calls (always to our toll free line) have been connected to vg system for hours at a time... in one instance for 31 hours! you can image our phone bill! they get into our vg system but we do not hang up on them when we should. *** we suspect they have an autodailer too, and somehow the 2 lines stay connected to one another for hours at at time. our local carrier says it not their fault. our interconnect company says it not their fault. they suggested the security settings on your vg system must be changed to: a) determine when another autodailer is connected to our autodailer and terminate the call immediately, and cut off all calls after 5 minutes. we need to know quickly how to handle this situation. (blocking a certain phone number is not a good long term solution because a soon as another autodailer gets our number, the phone bill we soar up again.) Regards, Jack Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 12/08/2005 09:44 PM Sounds like you should design your script to finish and hangup after a certain time... If the other end does not hang up then it's up to you to determine when to finish the call. Usually this is done when you timeout awaiting for callers input or similar. And you should avoid infinite loops in your script which would result in calls going on forever. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rico Report post Posted 12/09/2005 03:24 PM Look at taking your toll-free numbers from someone else as well - 31hours shouldnt result in much more than $30. Obviously not an answer, but any saving is a good saving. Share this post Link to post
