mikhubb Report post Posted 06/19/2003 05:35 PM I upgraded from VG 4.51. to VG 4.9 on the same machine and the Unique System Identifier changed from MB3B5 (starts with "M" so network card based which is correct as there is a network card) to H3429 which is hard drive based (starts with "H"). Which is the default, Network or Hardrive? Obviously my registration code will no longer work. I have sent an email as well about this issue/feature. My questions is how do I get VG 4.9 to create the USI based on the Network Card which should allow me to use my existing registration code? If this is not possible can you explain why the USI changed and issue me a new code? Thanks. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 06/19/2003 11:12 PM Is the network card plugged into the network? Which version of Windows are you using? v4.9 requires a new registration code anyway, previous codes will not work, you will need to purchase the upgrade using the WWW order form. I could not find any email regarding this in the Support's mailbox - can you send it again? Share this post Link to post
mikhubb Report post Posted 06/27/2003 05:34 AM Yes the network card is plugged in. That is how I am getting out the Internet. I got a new code for the Hard Drive USI and it works. It is one of those strange things that we never seem to get a clear answer on. VG should do this but VG is actually doing something else....hhhhmmmm. So here is my question again. How do I get VG 4.9 to create the USI based on the Network Card? If this is not possible can you explain why the USI changed from the network card to the hard drive? Share this post Link to post
