Error 53: File Not Found

HELP!!! This VG system has been running OK .. Today, I wondered why I had not received any messages and called to check in .... the Dialogic card did not answer. Upon retun to the office, a dialog box was displayed:

"Error 53, File Not Found." The box title was "VoiceGuide" ....

 

The machine was "locked" and only wanted me to click "OK". Clicking "OK" wiped out the Trace file which I usually keep running. No other information as to what file it is looking for. I can start VG, but the message displays in about 10 seconds, or whenever I click on any of the toolbar offerings. I am about to go out of town...... HELP!!!!

 

Once we fix this, I think it would be best to LOG these kind of errors someplace so we can at least see WHAT file you are looking for..... HELP!!!

When viewing the VoiceGuide log there is an check option to "Save to File" - this keeps a permanent record of the logs as well as displaying the log in the trace window.

 

You can also modify the VG.INI file to contain:

 

[TraceLog]

LogDebugToFile=1

 

Does the error occur when you start the Script Designer or only when you start VoiceGuide itself?

 

The "Error 53, File Not Found." suggests that a data file or a control used by VoiceGuide can no longer be located on the system... you get these sort of errors when a hard disk gets corrupt, or when the file itself just plain gets deleted...

 

Hard to say what the software is looking for, but if the VG.INI file is modified as outlined above and the software started again to cause the error then the trace file (C:\VoiceGuideLogMMDD.txt) should provide us with more information.

 

Which version of Windows are you using, and for how long has the system been running before you found the problem?

 

Which version of VoiceGuide are you using? Have you tried to re-install VoiceGuide?

 

Are the Dialogic card's services starting/running OK?

Well, Here is the DAMN problem......

 

I installed the "Fix" for 4.9.0 to Run After Hangup.

 

I do not (currently) have anything that I want to run after hangup right now, therefore nothing is specified.

 

Apparently it is looking for some default file that YOU specified and I get the 53 File Not Found Error.

 

I installed to older VGMulti.exe (which I had the foresight to save) and it works as before.

 

I spent HOURS and HOURS on this. Thanks.

Aha... so it was the installation of that patch which caused the problems....

 

Yes, there is a problem with that patch... patches are often quick fixes for a specific purpose and not thoroughly tested in all other areas...

 

I suspect that the file that it was looking for is the one that I attach here, but as it sounds like the system works well without the need for any of the specific patches that were recently released, so I'd suggest not updating the system with any until release of a next point version (v4.9.1).
