License Policy

Recommended Posts

If I connect the license to an individual Dialogic card and that card is needed to be sent for repair for a month, will I be able to use a temporary replacement card?

If I buy a 4-line license for a Dialogic board and one of the channel becomes unusable, can I use one voice modem and the remaining 3 port on the Dialogic card?

If I need to throw away the Dialogic card, can I transfer the license for a new one?

Do you have a written license policy explaining these and other possible scenarios?

In there cases we'd contact Intel who confirm that card is being repaired and indicate to us the ID of the temporary replacement card. We would then issue a code for replacement card.

Yes.. although this would mean you'd need to run the TAPI version of VG...

If Intel confirms that the card is faulty we will issue another license. Also, if a card is physically damaged a photo of the damaged card is enough. If the card's circuitry is faulty we can see that in the trace as well - so even just emailing us a trace from the faulty card would be enough.

Above answers pretty much summarize them. In cases where there is a problem we'd speak with customer directly to confirm that the card really is faulty and then we'd issue a new code.

We only had to issue new code for faulty Dialogic card a few times in the past, so there was never any real need to write up any official policy covering all of this.

Yes, we make allowances for that.

As mentioned before, we'll speak with customer to see what the situation is to confirm that it is a genuine change and once that is established then a new code will be issued.

Usually a customer doing an upgrade has been using VG for some years already, and a typical case would involve changing from a 4 port card to a 16 port, or going to a T1/E1 ISDN line, so it's easy to see that this is a genuine upgrade and the licenses are carried over at the time new licenses are purchased. And many times the old card still stays in the system anyway, with the new cards just added on.

We haven't really had many people try to do an 'upgrade' from one D/4PCIU card to another D/4PCIU card soon after the purchase... as you can imagine we'd ask a few questions if we got one of those...
