We are thinking about getting a pbx system of our own to set up here at the office. However, I am a little bit clueless on this topic. What are some good products that I should purchase. What exactly do would I need to purchase??

Best brands are Avaya http://www.avaya.com and Alcatel http://www.alcatel.com/

Samsung and Panasonic are also widely used.
