Audio Compression For Voicemail

Recommended Posts

VoiceGuide's Voicemail keeps and e mails the message recorded as a wav file. Is there anyway to have VG turn the wav to mp3 thereby making it easier to get the e mails while out of town and on a dial up connection. It would be very painfull to download a several meg attachment just because it isnt compressed.

Thanks

Sergey

At this stage VoiceGuide does not compress the voicemails themselves - but you can add a command line to have it done using one of the WAV->MP3 compression tools out there...

Specify the command to run in the "Command line to run" text box of the Voicemail manager - and this command will be run after the voicemail message is recorded.

The just recorded filename can be accessed using Result Variable:

$RV[Voicemail Box XXXX]

where XXXX is the voicemail box number.

you may want to create a batch file which first compresses the sound file, and then emails it...
