Preventing Faxes To Be Answered

Can VG with dialogic know whether the incoming call is a fax? I would like to prevent receiving faxes, possibly filtering them out before VG answers the call. How can I do this?

You can only tell that the incoming call is a fax after answering the call, as you can only hear the fax calling tones after the call is answered.

 

It's same as with a normal phone - when it's ringing you don't know if the incoming call is fax or not.

Thanks. What is the quickest way to test whether the answered call is from a fax and hang up immediately?

I gues it is something with the fax tone but how?

if you successfully detect an incoming fax call then you can store its CallerID # in a database, so, if the same number is detected in the future, your script can discard it
