E1 Dpnss Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps,

This is really a Dialogic problem but I was wondering if anyone has experience of setting up a Dialogic D320-E1 board using the DPNSS protocol?

I have installed the board in a Win2k machine and DCM recognises it ok. DCM will start the board ok when I have no protocol selected for the interface (i.e. the default settting) but if I select DPNSS for the protocol, it fails to start the service. I've tried selecting DASS2 and 1TR6 protocols (two other protocols I've used in the past) and the board starts up fine. It just seems to not like being set to use DPNSS.

Also, can you tell me if Voiceguide for dialogic will work in the demo mode using this board, in the same way as it does for the smaller density dialogic boards?

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Simon

If the Dialogic service itself does not start when you select a particular ISDN protocol then you should be contacting the Dialogic distributor from where the board was obtained to report this issue. It's their responsibility to supply you with drivers which can work with the hardware...

Is the card a D/300 card or a D/320 ?

Which version of Dialogic drivers are you using right now?

The demo version of VoiceGuide for Dialogic can control up to 30 channels, so you will be able to configure it to open all the channels on this board.

Thanks very much for your response.

<<you should be contacting the Dialogic distributor from where the board was obtained>>

I know, but I bought it from Ebay, so support is non-existent! I appreciate you are not here to help with Dialogic issues, but I just thought you might have some ideas I could try.

It's a D/300SC-E1 (ISA)

System Release 5.1.1 + SP1 + Globalcall 4.2

I'm about to buy 2 off D/4PCIUF boards for use with Voiceguide for another project and will be supplied with SR6.0 so I can try this System release with the D/300SC-E1 if it helps.

Incidentally, as I am building a new system for the 2 x D/4PCIUF project, ( a basic voicemail system), would you recommend Win 2k or Win XP, or is there nothing to chose between them? (I'm much more familiar with Win 2k so would like to use that if poss). I intend to use 8 line Voiceguide Enterprise + Dialler.

Check SR6.0 documentation to see if SR6.0 still supports the old ISA cards...

Can the telco/switch set a different ISDN protocol on these lines?

Both are fine.

Ahh...yes, I think you are right. I do beleive SR6 does not support ISA

Sadly not. We are connecting to a PABX with a DPNSS connection only. The idea is I want to look at creating somoe call routing apps using voiceguide and the transfer and conference feature. One of the areas I want to investigate is if we can utilise route optimisation which is a specific feature of the DPNSS protocol.

So, in summary it has to be DPNSS for this particular work.

We're being told that you will have to buy an extra kit, whic will allow DPNSS E1 activation.

Normally you have to talk with your Dialogic representative on this matter...

The other option you have is to try "SR5.1.1 FP1" (Feature Pack 1) drivers.

Simon: If you are buying the 2x D/4PCIUF cards for conferencing - be aware that they do not support inter-board transfers or call-bridging. You need JCT cards for that! (I have a 12 line D120JCT for sale in the uk if you need call bridging!)
