Guest EricGuest Report post Posted 01/28/2007 10:00 PM Hello. It's been a while since I touched the software; I've just left it running on my stand-alone computer dedicated to my phone line system. So now I want to update to the latest version. I currently have 6.0.3107 (licensed). I know the saying is, "if it isn't broken, don't fix it." However, If I were to update, how exactly do I do this now? Do I have to download the main installation file and from which I'd extract certain files (ie. ktTelControll plus ... ?) to replace over the old files? Or should I download and do a general installation of the new version over all the files (except the user-configurable files I configured manually of course), and then use same registration information previously given? Thanks EricGuest PS. FYI I'm running VoiceGuide on Windows 2000, Proline/2V (ISA, analog) with 2 direct regular telephone lines. Share this post Link to post

Probably best way to update is to install latest version of VG to another machine, then just copy over two files - VgMulti.exe and ktTel.ocx and place those files on new machine (register the ktTel.ocx using regsvr32). Backup the older versions of both files and that way you will be able to quickly revert to existing version if required. Share this post Link to post
Guest EricGuest Report post Posted 01/28/2007 10:45 PM Thanks for a quick reply! Simple enough, but, remind me again how to "register the ktTel.ocx using regsvr32"? EricGuest Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 01/28/2007 11:02 PM Run these command from Command Prompt in the Windows' System32 directory to unregister the KtTelControl.ocx (if it exists) and ktTel.ocx: regsvr32 - u KtTelControl.ocx regsvr32 - u ktTel.ocx Then copy new ktTel.ocx into Windows' System32 directory (remove previous OCX's from system entirely, do not just rename them) Then run this command from Command Prompt in the Windows' System32 directory to register the new ktTel.ocx: regsvr32 ktTel.ocx Share this post Link to post
