krayc Report post Posted 04/05/2007 12:05 PM I have an old app that needs replacing. It was used to track the coming and goings of outside staff, like a timeclock. I've been reading the features, etc, and it seems like VG will handle this, but I want to be sure. So People call in, and using pins, etc, leave status reports, all through the phone pad, ie digits, voice isn't necessary (but might be useful). Imagine a mobile workforce who have to check in and out, like a punchclock over the telephone, and their supervisor(s) at the office access this information using something MS Access or whatever. Aside from just entering digits on a phone pad, it might be useful for the staff to leave messages associated with their job in question, could these message be playable through the MS Access app? From what I can tell this functionality is available out-of-the-box, but I what I want to know is it straightforward, better yet, has anyone done something similar? thanks in advance for you time... krc Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 04/05/2007 12:19 PM VoiceGuide IVR software can do what you describe, and is used in a number of similar applications already. Please see our WWW from where you can download the fully working evaluation version of the software. The demonstrations supplied will get you running in a matter of minutes. You will need to get a Dialogic card as well - see: http://www.voiceguide.com/suppRecomHardware.htm Any PC with WindowsXP will be fine. We can assist setup the system remotely for you as well - installing VoiceGuide software and configuring it to work on yours system if you can provide access to it using PCAnywhere or WinVNC (www.realvnc.com) (extra setup charges apply). We can assist in writing the scripts as well (although what you describe sounds fairly straightforward and you should be able to set all this up yourself). However, if you would like to forward us the specifications of what is required we can quote on providing scripts implementing the system. could these message be playable through the MS Access app?You could save the filename of the recorded sound file in an Access field and then have a button on an Access form which plays the specified file - this is not that hard to create either. Alternativelyt the recorded messages could be emailed or FTP'd etc. Share this post Link to post
krayc Report post Posted 04/07/2007 03:37 PM Will the demo work with a modem? Not that I want to use it ultimately, but I'm working the 'proof of concept' at this time. And is the integration with Access straightforward? In your help file you mention: "ensure that the Voice modem's Wave Driver has installed correctly" How can I determine that the Wave Driver was installed correctly? thanks for you time krc Share this post Link to post

SupportTeam Report post Posted 04/07/2007 10:25 PM Will the demo work with a modem? You will need to download v5.x of VoiceGuide (VoiceGuide for TAPI). And is the integration with Access straightforward?Yes. Just specify the filename of the Access database in the DB Query module. How can I determine that the Wave Driver was installed correctly?See if the modem's Wave driver is displayed in the list of wave drivers installed on the system. Based on the screenshot you attached it looks like the modem you are using is not "Voice" capable. You will need to get a "Voice" capable modem or (better) a Dialogic card.
