System Requirements For "heavy Load"

Recommended Posts

Hi

A.

regarding system requirements, as found below:

Windows 2000/2003/XP

Pentium 1GHz with 512MB RAM

50MB Hard Disk space

I have the dialogic cards I need, but regarding the pc-system to handle the calls, what would you find sufficient if you have a 16 or 32 (or more) line, that you want to be sure is stable, can handle many calls and scripts running at the same time etc.

Running a 4 line at the moment, the winXP, Pentium 1GHz, 1Giga RAM is fully sufficient, but I wonder what happens when this begins to be overloaded.

The scripts are generally not very sophisticated (a few database queries, a few wave files played and digits registered)

B.

I recall reading that there is no theoretical limit to the amount of lines per. PC, but where would you consider jumping on to 2 PCs instead of one?

I look forward to your answer.

Best regards

Henrik

The low end 1GHz Pentium CPU may become overloaded once more lines are added.

Probably best to monitor what is happening with the CPU usage currently and from that you would be able to extrapolate what will happen once more lines are added. The Database transactions usually tend to be fairly CPU intensive.

You should aim to keep the CPU usage to below 50% on average, and avoid any spikes that linger at 100% for any length of time. Once that is happening you should change to a faster machine (or start using another machine)
