Poor Sound Quality

Recommended Posts

I have noticed that the prerecorded scripts that came with VoiceGuide are 8hz 8bit 128kb, mono. I have only been able to record under 64bit. How can I record with the 128 instead? (This may be the problem I am having with the noise, scratch etc.

I appreciate your help in advance.

Which version of VoiceGuide and which sound files are you referring to? If a file is 8 bit and recorded at 8kHz then the bit rate should be 64kbps.

Good quality recordings are best made in the sound studio. Some links to recording services are listed here: http://www.voiceguide.com/servCallflowDesign.htm

Also, from: http://www.voiceguide.com/vghelp/source/html/soundfiles.htm

The sound file formats used are the same as used by all other IVR systems worldwide (it's the telephony cards that determine the format ultimately used) and the frequency and bits/sample used are more then adequate to achieve a achieve good quality playback.

I am using version 6. I had downloaded version 7 but reverted back to 6. The bit rate that I see in the files is 128. Could they be from version 7? I use 64 bit but the sound is still not good. I have done everything possible to get VoiceGuide going and am at my wits end. We don't want to use a professional company because we need the ability to create recordings on the fly, but in order to get a half way decent recording, I have to tweak all settings on the recorder and don't have the time to continually tweak a new recording. We should be able to simply record and send it to the numbers. Your recordings sound great, but mine don't. Is ther a particular recorder and editor I should be using? (I have tried about 10 different recorders and editors.)

To get good quality recordings you will usually need a studio-like setup. It's not usually possible to get good quality recordings without a recording studio conditions.

Usually easiest to just select a professional recording studio and have them do all the recordings for you. For some links and suggestions see: http://www.voiceguide.com/servCallflowDesign.htm
