Guest BlackBird Report post Posted 11/06/2007 03:01 PM Hi, Does VG provide the functionality to retrieve the phone carrier identifier? That is, during an outbound campaign, while in the dial out process would I be able obtain the phone carrier (eg; Cingular, Verizon, etc..) .. is this doable? If yes, then, at what point during the call can this information be retrieved? After the first ring? or prior to the first ring? and which VG module/function should I use? SupportTeam Report post Posted 11/06/2007 09:32 PM Are you using a VoIP system or a T1/E1 or Analog based system? On T1/E1 and Analog systems the carrier selection is just done by routing the outgoing call over the desired outgoing line/channel. On VoIP systems you may be able to use IP addressing to select which carrier to use. Depending on your setup you may be able to just send the call through the IP address of the selected carrier's switch. Share this post Link to post
Guest BlackBird Report post Posted 11/07/2007 12:21 AM It will be the later...VOIP On VoIP systems you may be able to use IP addressing to select which carrier to use. Depending on your setup you may be able to just send the call through the IP address of the selected carrier's switch. Based on your response, please clarify a bit further, if the transaction is done via HMP to a SIP/Voip provider, who then performs the exchange/termination to the carrier network, would I be able to retrieve/discover the carrier IP address via VG? if yes, at which point on the transaction the carrier ip disclosed, prior to the first ring? Besides making a call successfully, my alternate goal is to identify/retrieve the carrier. thanks. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 11/07/2007 01:01 AM Will you be sending calls direct to the different carriers from the HMP system, or are you trying to find out over what lines the VoIP provider that you are using decides to route the call? If you are using a single VoIP provider then you should speak to the VoIP provider to see what carriers they use to provide their service. After you send a call to them it's up to them how the call is routed. Share this post Link to post
Guest BlackBird Report post Posted 11/07/2007 05:12 PM I will be sending the calls via HMP/SIP to different phone numbers in my local area, but to clarify, I am not trying to find out over what lines the VoIP provider I use routes the call, that is transparent to me. What I am trying to find out is if VG7 Voip has a method or function via which if I place an outbound call to 425 555 5555 I would be able to identify the telecommunication carrier who owns/manage the phone number being called, for example if I call 425 555 5555 the return data would show that the called number is owned/managed by "Quest Communication", next out bound call = 206 555 0000 the return data would show that the phone number is owned/managed by "Verzion" ... SupportTeam Report post Posted 11/07/2007 09:13 PM I don't think that this information would be visible in the SIP packets exchanged between yourself and the VoIP service provider at call setup time. You could contact the VoIP service provider to confirm. Share this post Link to post
