SupportTeam Report post Posted 08/20/2003 11:14 PM "R" means "hookflash" and VoiceGuide uses the "!" symbol to represent it... This is how 3 way conferences are done 90% of the time - and VoiceGuide ships with these settings preconfigured so there is no need top change anything - you just need to set the hookflash length generated by your Dialogic card to be what the phone company expects... ask them what hookflash length they require =- in most cases it's about 100ms - requiring a setting of "10" in the Dialogic configuration screens... SupportTeam Report post Posted 08/21/2003 08:14 AM for Win2000 Service Pack 2 should be installed. seeing "callstate DISCONNECTED" immediately after sending a hookflash is quite unexpected, we've never seen this before - and it's obviously a major fault witghe the way the drivers are responding... can you plz try with smaller values for hookflash timing - what happens when "1" or "5" is used? Next step would be to see what other settings are used for this card's configuration - could you please select "Save as Text" from the "Dialogic TSP configuration" and post the file here, and also could you pelase list all the settings used in the "Dialogic Configuration Manager" for this card... As I've mentioned before this is teh first time we've seen the Dialogic drivers behave like this so we'dreally need to get all the info on this system before we can start suggesting what can be wrong... Win2000/XP: Open Control Panel’s “Phone and Modem Options” applet, select the Advanced tab, select the Dialogic Service Provider and then click Configure. A Dialogic TSP Configuration window should appear: Please see the VoiceGuide Help file section on "Configuring Call Transfers and Conferencing". I've just noticed that you are trying to do a 3 way conference call after you have placed an outgoing call... 3 way conferencing is usually only supported when there is an incoming call - you cannot do it on an outgoing call - you can speak with your telephone company about this but I'm pretty sure that's the case with their phone system as well... health4us Report post Posted 08/24/2003 06:04 PM I am happy to tell you that after installing win 200 again and sp2 it appears progress is been made at last.... now when i try make the 3 way call after the initial call is answered voiceguide at least trys to do something... however, the problem is that it cuts the initial caller off and does not connect succesfully to the 2nd number dialed... i think there is some progress please let me know what i need to do next... thanks for your help so far.. When doing the conference manually do you have to wait until the other person answers the phone before pressing "R" and then "3" ? As the original caller hearing the on hold music all this time? Was the original caller cut off at the time of 651523140 receiving the call or earlier? Could you please provide complete trace of the call including comments as to at which stage the original caller was cut off... If the original caller is cut off at the time when the first hookflash is issued (instead of being put on hold) then this means that the hookflash length is too long... health4us Report post Posted 08/25/2003 05:58 PM ok, i have now sorted out 1 problem myself by inserting a comma in between the "!" and the "3" to slow the dialing down and this seems to have done the trick... The problem of the call transfer message been played before the call is answered is still happening and as such if i press "1" to accept the call i have to do it before all the message has been played otherwise the input is not registered by voiceguide and there is no call connections.. None announced calls do not work either - i guess this is for the same reason as above. Please let me know what needs to be altered to fix this problem.. Also, when the initial caller is waiting for the 3 wayt call to be connected is there anyway to play music or something to them whilst they wait as the delay is quite a while.. I'm not too sure what the problem here is - 1 has to be pressed to accept the call... sounds like that is what you are doing and that is what's happening... Also, when the initial caller is waiting for the 3 wayt call to be connected is there anyway to play music or something to them whilst they wait as the delay is quite a while.. The telephone company have the call on hold - they should be playing the music... the caller that's on-hold cannot hear anything that VoiceGuide is doing... Share this post Link to post

With hookflash call transfers the message will start playing as soon as the dialing has finished. It's not possible to detect when the destination handset has been picked up at this stage when using a hookflash call transfer. (you may want to look into the "Conferenced transfer" but you need a D4ESC or D41EPCI or D41JCTLS for that...) Share this post Link to post

Right now if the destination extension is engaged then VoiceGuide will hangup the call - this is a bug - a workaround for now is to disable busy tone detection - easy when using a Dialogic card - using the Dialogic Configuration Manager (& PBXpert) just load a tone file (.TSF file) which has invalid busy tone detection settings... Instead what happens is that the VoiceGuide dialing out line starts to ring and the first person called gets treated as if they had made an incoming call to the VoiceGuide line and then VoiceGuide answers the call and plays the incoming call script instead of taking the person down the fail path.. SupportTeam Report post Posted 08/27/2003 11:54 AM Dialogic’s PBXpert tool has a tutorial as part of it's Help section - please read through that - you will need to generate a Tone file in which the Busy and disconnected tones are to look for are incorrect (use a high frequency like 1200Hz for them and the actual busy tones will not be detected...) Then in Dialogic Configuration manager "Misc" tab - set TSFFileSupport to "Yes" and in "Files" tab set the TSFFileName to the tone file generated using PBXpert.. Share this post Link to post

VoiceGuide will play: TsfrCallFrom.wav + [CallerID Number] + TsfrAskAccept.wav The default recordings for the two wav files are: TsfrCallFrom.wav : "This is a transferred call" TsfrAskAccept.wav : "Please press 1 to accept the call, or press any other number to reject it" If Caller ID is not available then only TsfrCallFrom.wav + TsfrAskAccept.wav will be played. Yes, i tried this and set it up exactly as per the help guide. when a call was made and the recipients phone line was busy then the fail path was taken but then for some reason something happened and the whole outgoing message was started again and a continual loop started.... SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/01/2003 02:04 PM Well turns out that when I updated a clean install of VG 5.0 with a new VGMULTI.EXE - the new VGMULTI.EXE started OK with no errors - there was no need to even update the TAPIWRAP.OCX (tested on two different test systems). So I'm at a bit of a loss as to where else to look at this stage... The only thing I can suggest is: 1. uninstalling the current install of VoiceGudie 2. making sure TAPIWRAP.* is deleted from Window's System32 directory 3. Installing VG 5.0a again 4. Change the VG to TransferControl_TelBoards=TAPI 5. Update with new VGMULTI.EXE Share this post Link to post

Can you indicate at what time was the first called person put on hold, and when were they cut off? Can you please supply screenshots or a text dump of how the Dialogic's TSP is currently configured on this system. Including PBX Strings tab and Board Parameters / Call Parameters tabs. Also just a note - instead of specifying commas in the Dial string it may be better to specfy the correct DTMF tone lengths and interdigit gaps - when using commas it may take the system a long to dial the 2nd number and maybe the telephone company itself is timing out awaiting end of dialing... Yes, ok - it worked fine when using vg to generate tones etc but you are right it did take a while to dial.. how do i work out the right gaps etc as normal dialing works fine with no commas but the prob was just with conference dialing Desktop.zip Share this post Link to post

So the hookflash length is too long - I thought that we had that one sorted out and that the phone company was correctly placing the call on hold beforehand - doesn't that work anymore? I see from the screenshots the Dialogic is configured to a hookflash length of 160ms - that sounds too high... On the same config tab the DTMF tone lengths and interdigit delay can be changed to suit the phone company requirements. Share this post Link to post

So 2 questions: 1. Why does the phone company who's lines are plugged into the D4PCI card chooses to re-connect the person back with who called them if a 3 way conference is aborted? 2. Why didn't this happen the fist time? Most likely answers: 1. That's how they have configured their switches - if the called person does not hang up then a call back is established - you'll need to speak to them about this... 2. The first time the 1st called person hung up after VoiceGuide hung up on them... and the second time they stayed on the line after VoiceGuide hung up on them - and eventually the phone company started the callback... Most likely solution: Looks like you'd want the ensure that the 1st person hangs up - maybe even before VoiceGuide hangs up. If you want the other person to hang up I'd suggest playing 30 seconds or so of a busy tone to them - that should ensure that they hang up... And if they still do not hang up - if your application is for outbound only then how about just a short script consisting of a single hangup module for the default script to handle incoming calls? The any bounced-back/callback calls will be immediately just answered and then hung up and the system can then get on with making other external calls... Share this post Link to post
health4us Report post Posted 09/02/2003 07:09 PM ok thanks i have set this up and worls nicely thanks.. 1\the only problem is now that the transfer of calls is very un reliable.. 1 time the transfer will be fine and the next time the 1st called person is cutoff... i have tried everything and tried different hookflash etc but nothing seems to make it work consistantly even when the settings are not altered.... What can be done please to make it work 100% of the time? 2\ Success path of call transfers - is a transfer considered a success upon succesful connection or when the 3 way call is over and the third person puts the phone down? You should establish with the telephone company what length hookflash they require - and then set the card to match exactly that - quite possibly the hookflash length as it is set right now is borderline acceptable/unacceptable and that is why you are seeing this behaviour... Are you running the correct Service Pack 2 on this Win2000 system - as discussed before anything else is not supported by Dialogic drivers and results in hookflash problems... 2. From VG help file: If call is accepted VoiceGuide will take the Success path if it is defined, otherwise VoiceGuide will wait and hang up when: - busy tone is heard - timout path times out or maximum conference time limit is reached (settable in VG.INI file) - digit "*" is pressed during conversation Share this post Link to post

What do you mean by this... do you mean that every second transfer works or do you mean something else? the prob is sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.... Not much else we can do from our side if sometimes the telephone company’s switch chooses to hang up the call when it hears the hookflash, and sometimes it reacts to it as expected... The only other solution is to get a Dialogic card which can do conferencing (D41ESC, D41JCT or D120) and do the transfer using the "Dial and Conference" method - basically VG teh dials out on another line and conferences the two calls together - guaranteed to work as we are no longer relying on hookflashes to instruct the telephone company’s switch to conference two calls for us... The other possibility is that maybe the card itself is not keeping the hookflash length constant - and we've never seen this happen with a Dialogic card - once you set it to the right length it works all the time... If you are able to always setup the 3 way conference call manually (can you?) then it would suggest that the card is not always sending the correct length hookflash... Must say that a setting of 3 or 4 is quite low - and it's a bit puzzling why such a low setting is necessary... as I've mentioned before quite possibly the hookflash length as it is set right now is borderline acceptable/unacceptable and that is why you are seeing this behavior... There is a possibility that there is something wrong with the card as well.... There is nothing really that we can do to alter the hookflash length besides the settings that are used already - getting a card which can conference calls together itself may be the best way of going... Not too sure if the Country setting would affect the hookflash length - are you saying now that after changing the country from EURO to Spain you found that none of the hookflash settings now work, whereas before (when it was set to EURO) a setting of 3 or 4 worked (sometimes)? If you think that changing the country setting changes the way that hookflash behaves then I'd suggest just trying a setting of "Australia" - that's what we use on our test systems and it all works fine on the D4PCI we use here for verification testing. Still be quite interesting in finding out what hookflash length the phone company you are using expects - the technical staff should be able to answer these questions and I'd suggest asking to speak to technical staff who can answer these questions for you. SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/04/2003 08:25 AM If a setting of 3 or 4 was resulting in a hookflash length within 100-120ms range then it looks like there are some problems with the way hookflash is generated by the Dialogic card on this system - as a setting of 10, 11 or 12 should be used to have the Dialogic card issue hookflashes of those lengths. This suggests that either the card is faulty, or that the card's drivers are not working properly. Either way the next thing to do would be to take the card back to the Dialogic distributor/representative in your area and ask them to fix the card, or advise how the card should be configured to generate the correct length hookflash signal. SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/07/2003 12:43 AM After the conference call is accepted VoiceGuide should take the "Success" path if one is defined. You can then do a variety of actions such as recording the call, or just branching to a Play module which does not play anything but just waits for a long time (using a Timeout path) and monitors for keypresses from either caller. v5.0 and v5.1 was not taking the Success path if the call conference was done in TAPI mode - as you are using. The new .EXE attached fixed this issue - it will take the "Success" path when the call conference is accepted. The .EXE can probably be used to update a current v5.0 installation - but as it is based on a v5.1 .EXE I'd recommend having v5.1 installed first. VgMulti.zip Share this post Link to post

[Loop Current Drop detected] (about 2 seconds after "TsfrCallFrom.wav+08712770002+TsfrAskAccept.wav" started playing) "Loop Current Drop detected" means that the telephone company indicated by dropping the loop current on line that the call is finished.. will have to ask why the phone company why this is happening - not too sure why it is happening now - have you seen these messages before on these lines? A new version of VGMULTI.EXE which can ignore loop current drop will be emailed to you soon. Share this post Link to post

Maybe a good approach to resolving this would be to look at what has changed with the system to make the Dialoigc driver report "DISCONNECT" soon after connecting to second number... after all that part was working fine beforehand... Does this happen every time the transfer is attempted, or only on occasions? What is happening with hookflash lengths - is the first caller always properly placed on hold now?
