Start/stop Vgmulti In V7

Recommended Posts

I've startied using vgScriptDesigner in v 7 and when I had built my first test script and try to run it by pressing the Set and Run Current Script Buttom at the top. I got an error that said it can't find VgMulit.exe. What's wrong? How do I start scripts?

The scripts to use need to be for set in Config.xml file directly, and then VoiceGuide needs to be restarted for the changes in Config.xml to be read in. (in v7 that means restarting the VoiceGuide service)

The "Set And Run Current Script" Option In Script Designer is not used in v6.x and v7.x The "Run Script" button will be removed altogether from future releases.

I thank removing the "Set And Run Current Script" Option is a bad move. I spend hours writing and testing scripts. A programmer needs a way to quickly start a new or changed script. Sometime you may need to only add a word, char, or space to make it run. By the way how do you stop and restart VoiceGuide. I can't find it in help.

Easiest way to stop/start the VoiceGuide v7 service is to right click on the VoiceGuide Service Monitor icon in the icon tray in the bottom right corner, and select Start or Stop from the displayed menu.

VoiceGuide does not need to be restarted to load a new version of the same script. VoiceGuide automatically detects that a new version of the script has been saved on hard disk and uses the new version for any new calls.

Config.xml would need to be changed and VG restarted if you would like VoiceGuide to use a different script for answering the call, but an easy way to get around that would be to have the starting script consisting of just one module which then routes the call to the main script. Changes to the routing script would be loaded immediately and would not require a restart.
