Guest SalC Report post Posted 08/29/2003 03:21 PM Using Windows ME - PII 266 - 96MB Ram All up to date using VG5.0a and voice modem The software seems to run fine at first. It works by answering the call and we could hear the voice on the phone. Within some time, and it can be any point while the software is in use during a call, the system will suddenly crash and stop responding without warning or error. The system must be restarted. We need a solution for this immeditly because this system has to be reilable. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 08/29/2003 11:32 PM There have been other reports of general problems with using modems on Windows95/95/ME systems. The problems can usually be traced to modem drivers - some voice modem drivers are not very good - and Win95/98/ME have their problems as well. Eg. see: http://voiceguide.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44 For a commercial system that needs to be on 24/7 you should use WinNT/2000 and a Dialogic card... (how long does the system run on average before a problem occurring?) Share this post Link to post
Guest SalC Report post Posted 09/02/2003 03:58 PM I installed Windows 2000 on the same system to see if this solves the problem. I installed the hardware drivers and it appears to be working correctly for the modem and sound card. I also installed the modem first. I then installed the software VG5.0a and met all of the requirements. Allthough I will need a new reg# since the ID changed. I setup and ran VG and encountered another problem. The modem answers and starts playing the greeting but all the sound prompts get cut off on the phone. I tried all the scripts provided and same thing happens. In other words, the modem answers, greeting will play and then cut off within the first couple of seconds. Here is an example log but I don't think it provides any help. 110112.18 0 callstate OFFERING 65791 0 4 110112.18 0 ring 1 110112.18 0 Answer the call at 9/2/2003 11:01:12 AM 110112.18 0 lineAnswer(65791) => 65774 110112.19 0 callstate ACCEPTED 65791 0 0 110116.53 0 tapi Reply 65774 0 110116.53 0 callstate CONNECTED 65791,0,0 110116.54 0 WorkingModeTAPI= 110116.54 0 WorkingModeScript= 110116.54 0 Inband detection not enabled 110116.54 0 StartLoadedVgs at 9/2/2003 11:01:16 AM 110116.55 0 [say Recording] Playing 110116.55 0 tts generate start[Press 1, to begin recording your prompt. SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/03/2003 12:14 AM As you can see th trace shows that VoiceGuide issuing to the modems Wave drivers instructions to play the sound file in [say Recording] moduel a number of times - and the modem's wave drivers are correctly responding... if you are hearing just the first couple of seconds then looks like the Win2000 wave drivers for this modem are not doing what they say that they are doing... I'd suggest checking with the modem manufacturer if they have any updated Win200 drivers, or trying another modem (or a Dialogic card...) Share this post Link to post
Guest SalC Report post Posted 09/03/2003 08:37 PM I bought a new modem based on the forum - Broadxent v.92 56k PCI The new modem along with running Windows 2000 seems to fix that wav problem. However, as I was testing the scripts, I got an error that caused VG to stop. The error: Run-Time error '6': Overflow After I pressed ok, VG exited. This only happened once and I was looking at the log and it was while loading the outgoing dialer numbers. Any ideas? I'm trying to see if I can reproduce this. Thanks. Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 09/04/2003 12:29 AM Would of course be interested if you can find how this problem occurred (and/or how it can be reproduced) - I take it that you are using v5.0a as indicated before? It may be a good idea to have in VG.INI: [TraceLog] LogToFile=1 Then VoiceGuide will continually write the trace log to: C:\VoiceGuideLogMMDD.txt and then the contents of that log can tell us what the system was doing when the problem occurred...
