Postive/negative Number Field

I am evaluating VoiceGuide to replace an existing data capture application we use to collect sales data nightly from branch locations. Callers will dial the IVR phone number, authenticate using a passcode then enter data. After confirming all data the entry will post to a database for use the next day.

 

One of the existing fields of information we capture can be a positive or negative number. How can I set a data capture field in Voiceguide to recognize a number as positive or negative?
