Recommended Posts

I am useing windows 2003 32 bit with a hp proliant ML110 G5 server without a sound card with the latest windows update and dot net3 framework this is a fresh install of windows and all drivers appear to be ok. when I install the HPM drivers the server will no longer let me log on and errors out and a blue screen with a windows dump appears

You should be able to start Windows in Safe mode, which does not start any non-essential services, and disable the HMP service. Then start Windows and see if it starts OK when no attempt is made to start HMP automatically by Windows. If the problem then still persists when Windows is restarted then the problem would not be caused by HMP service starting.

The Blue Screen should also give you some information as to what is causing the error.

We have not seen any such issues related to HMP drivers.

Safe mode works fine and when i uninstall HPM the machine works fine , however I did have trouble getting all of the drivers to work properly when I instaled 2003 before I installed HPM had a lot of messing to get all the drivers to work ok so it may be still a driver problem

Next time the Blue Screen occurs have a look at the information on the Blue Screen. It should tell you what has caused the problem.

Only device drivers run at a privilege level that can cause blue screens. HMP is not a device driver...

This would suggest problem is with Windows itself. Does this happen when HMP is not installed (ie. just Win2003+SP2+.Net3.0 is installed) ?

What about when HMP is installed but HMP service is not started (ie. set to Manual or Disabled in Windows Service Manager). I think when you install HMP by default it is set to not start the service automatically on Windows startup anyway.

Which Service Update version of HMP 3.0 are you installing?

I'd try running some of HPs diagnostic tools to make sure the hardware passes all tests (especially RAM).

Guess you could try changing to XP as well.

switched to xp problem solved

I think the reason it would no work with server 2003 was in some way connected with drivers and the way order they were installed

for xp I used the provided disk and pre installed drivers first then installed xp while with windows server 2003 I installed 2003 first and used the supplied HP disk to update the drivers that did not install correctly

I may return to server 2003 later.

I still have some questions and may open a new query.

Thanks for the help
