Guest BlackBird Report post Posted 10/25/2008 05:36 AM Hi team, I would like to identify the audio format that works best with V7 and a Dialogic card. The following link, http://www.voiceguide.com/vghelp/source/ht...ialogicsr60.htm , suggest that V7 only supports; uLaw or ALaw, 8kHZ, 8 bit, Mono. The following link http://www.voiceguide.com/vghelp/source/html/soundfiles.htm expands to other V7 supported sound file format such as PCM: 8kHz or 11kHz, 8-bit or 16-bit, Mono. Based on your experiences and from the above formats, which format yields the best resolution (ulaw or PCM)? Regards, -r Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 10/25/2008 08:41 PM VoiceGuide v7 can also play PCM 8kHz or 11kHz, 8-bit or 16-bit, Mono. ALaw and ULaw are preferred as that is what is usually used by the telephone companies to transmit the voice signal on their network, and it's best to match the format used by Telcos themselves. Some people say that they are getting better results when using 11kHz PCM rather then ALaw or ULaw, but you would need to experiment with this yourself to confirm if this is what you observe on your system/lines. Guest BlackBird Report post Posted 10/27/2008 08:20 PM How about in terms for Dialogic performance, either of the formats mentioned earlier do not require cycles for conversion from the Dialogic card, correct? Share this post Link to post
SupportTeam Report post Posted 10/27/2008 09:44 PM Hard to say on Analog cards. But most likely not. On Digital T1/E1 cards the sound is encoded on the wire as ULaw or ALaw only. So on Digital systems the correspondingly encoded .WAV files should be used, otherwise Dialogic does convert on-board. Share this post Link to post
