i was planning to configure our system as follows:

 

12 license vg 7

d/120jct-ls: 8 of 12 lines used for voice

d/41jct-ls: 4 lines used for fax

 

a) does it matter what order the boards are installed

in <channels> in config.xml do i simply include an entry for each physical port/channel that will be used, with no entry for those that are not?

The grey selector switch on each card determines the order. One call should let you see on which channel the call arrives and hence which card is 'first'.
