Fax Reception

Hi,

 

Using VG7 on Dialogic D/300JCT-E1 card.

 

We're trying to set VG up to receive and send faxes but have not had much luck. We've created and tested both inbound and outbound fax scripts based on the example scripts, but neither is working and we can hear no tones down the line either sending or receiving.

 

Log files are rather large so have included the specific entries relating to the inbound fax attempt within vgEngine and the entire ktTel log (attached).

 

In the ktTel log we notice this:

 

"fax device not opened on this line. Aborting fax receive."

 

Also is there already a process availble for sending faxes via email to fax through VG? Any examples would be helpful.

To enable the fax transmit/receive on the Dialogic D/300JCT you will need to specify that the Dialogic drivers load the fax enabled version of the firmware.

 

Stop the Dialogic service and in the Dialogic Configuration Manager (DCM) in the "Misc" tab, in the Firmware File setting select: spfax.fwl

 

Pretty sure you should be able to run ISDN and Fax at the same time on D/300JCT when using SR6.0 drivers.

Followed your advice on this one.

Once the Firmware File setting is selected as "spfax.fwl" The Dialogic fails to restart (even after 5 or 6 attemots to restart), If we set it back to default, the card starts up immediately.

Maybe that card cannot handle fax and ISDN at the same time. You would need to consult the card release notes and contact card supplier.

 

Maybeyou will need to use one of the newer DMV series card (DMV300B) to let you use Fax and ISDN.
