Dialing Rules

Recommended Posts

I attempted to use the Dialing Rules section (VG 7) for local numbers but am having an issue.

For local numbers we do not need to dial a 1 nor the area code. So if I have mixed long distance and local numbers I can't have all these things happen to all numbers called:

-Dial a 1 + area code for long distance

-Strip area code for local numbers (defined by me in the rules section)

-Prevent a 1 from being added to the local numbers

I can have options 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 happen, but not all three, which are important.

Is there some way to get around this issue?

The "Default Prefix" should not be added if the number matches one of the specified dialing rules.

So you should be able to achieve what you require by using "1" as the Default Prefix, then specify the local prefix number in the rules section, and strip the appropriate number of digits from the front of numbers starting with that prefix.

I did what you mentioned above, but for local numbers, it adds a 1 to them. So if a local number comes into the dial list loader as 828-555-6666, I:

-specify the default prefix of 1 (because there are other non-local numbers

-specify that 828 is a local number under the Rules section and that it should strip 3 digits

What shows on the Line Status is 15556666, so it is still trying to dial this local number using a 1 in front.

Which version of the Telephone Number Loader app is installed on this system? Just read it of the title bar or post a screenshot.

The settings in the "dialing rules" section of the "Telephone Number Loader" application do not affect how the telephone numbers are loaded if the loading is done using other methods (XML lists, COM, WCF, direct into database etc).

The settings in the "dialing rules" section of the "Telephone Number Loader" application only are applied when the telephone number are loaded using the "Telephone Number Loader" application.

We have updated the Telephone Number Loader to also apply the Dialing Rules when loading the telephone numbers from the text files - ie. the file specified in the "Phone Numbers File" text box on the first page of the Telephone Number Loader app.

The updated Telephone Number Loader is now included in this VoiceGuide v7 release: [old link removed]

Please contact sales@voiceguide.com if you require for the Dialing Rules style pre-processing of the telephone numbers to be made available when loading the XML input files as well (include link to this support forum thread in your email).

Could you please .ZIP and post the vgEngine and the ktTel traces capturing system startup and the error. We can then see what is happening on this system.

Is the issue that you are encountering happening at system startup or when a call is made into the system?

If at system startup then please ensure that the Dialogic drivers installed on the system are the ones intended for use with v7.1 of VoiceGuide.
The Dialogic drivers can be downloaded from the Downloads page.

If the problem is actually occurring when the script is running then we have just recently found and fixed a problems with the Record module
The version with this fix is available for download here: [old link removed]
Please update to this version and advise if this fixes the problem occurring on your system.

I already had Dialogic drivers which worked before the last VG update posted on this topic. Regardless, I tried to download drivers for 2003 and got a MediaFire error that the file is no longer hosted there.

The error is happening when I try to start VG, I can't even get to make phone calls since the service will not start.

Please help with this issue.

Please try refreshing the page (press Reload/Refresh buttons) when viewing the VoiceGuide Downloads page. The download links for the drivers were changed recently.

The traces show the Dialogic service has started, and you should be able to make incoming calls into the system. Are incoming calls answered?

The traces show there was an error during initialization:

104829.444 5 ERROR v7.1.3559.20538 (2009-09-29 10:24:35.60) mainLoad OutDialQue init : Could not load type 'vgServicesInterfaces.zDialerDb_DbCmdParams' from assembly 'vgServicesInterfaces, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=4f342a61cca7f182'.

We will look into this now and advise.

It is possible that the vgServicesInterfaces.dll was used by another program at new VG version install time and hence was not deleted/replaced by new install.

Probably best to to do an uninstall of VoiceGuide (backup your config and any script files first) and then confirm that all files are removed from VoiceGuide's directory, and then install VoiceGuide again.

Please post traces as before if you still encounter problems on system after re-installing.
