Does the voip VG detect the answering machines as the PSTN does?

Yes. Quality of sound over VoIP is sometimes not as good as over Analog or T1/E1 ISDN lines, so accuracy can be lower then if Analog or T1/E1 ISDN is used.

T1/E1 ISDN lines provide best sound quality at this time - this may change in future when 'high definition' VoIP becomes widely used.
